Hi, my name is Darlene Thompson.  I have been teaching in the district for over 15 years.  My teaching experience includes being a substitute, START teacher, noon duty supervisor, assistant teacher, associate teacher, teacher, master teacher, and currently, as site supervisor at the Noralto Preschool.  I have been married to my husband, Robert Thompson, for 39 years.

We have 8 children (5 boys and 3 girls), 21 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.  Children have always been a part of my life and I will continue to serve and educate them for as long as my life permits.

I have taught preschool thru 3rd grade for 30 plus years in the private sector, with half that time working with preschool students. After working for 7 years in a non-public school for children with special needs I found my love and passion: teaching Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). I earned my BA in Liberal Arts at Chapman University in 2013 and my Credentials for Early Childhood Special Education/Early Intervention from Sac State (CSUS) in 2015. I was hired by Twin Rivers in 2015 and have been with this amazing school district ever since!

My credential is in the field of Mild/Mod and Mod/Severe Special Education (including Autism, Down syndrome, Visual Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities as well as other disabilities). I am very excited about continuing my teaching career at Noralto, where I can be dedicated to help your child succeed and reach their potential.

When not teaching I love spending time with my husband Greg, our children, our beautiful grandchildren, and our goofy lab, Chloe. I enjoy crocheting and cross stitch and most other crafts.

I have worked in Twin Rivers School District since 2010 with the Special Ed Program as a Para Educator. I am married with a 21-year-old daughter. I love spending time with my family, two dogs and two birds. I also like reading and watching movies.

I’m looking forward to working with you, getting to know your child, and helping them succeed in their education. I have five years of experience working with preschoolers, one year with infants, and one with special needs. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing with my two younger siblings, and spending as much time as I can with my family. I will be graduating from American River College with a degree in Early Child Education. This year is going to be an explosion of learning both for the students and myself! I cannot wait to get to know your child!
